Quite possibly in love with Pat Perry

Posted on April 18, 2018December 17, 2021 by mettelindgaard

A beautiful day to take photos in Detroit today. And I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing the lantern mural by Pat Perry at 2933 Gratiot Ave. near the Western Market for the first time today.

I get so impressed every time I see one of his walls. And the lantern is no exception.

Michigan born adventurer

Pat Perry is an adventurer, an itinerant artist, writer and photographer from Michigan who documents his travels through art. He seems like a sky guy who rarely reviles his face.

Pat is supposedly currently based in Detroit. His work can be found throughout the US, New Zealand and Europe.

Many of Pat’s walls show the clash of urban and natural life mixed with a touch of social justice.

Find much more at Detroit Eastern Market

The Eastern Market in Detroit is famous for great murals. And of course you find much more of Pat Perry’s work in and around the market. Once you know Pat’s remarkable colors and detailed style, it’s easy to recognize his work when you walk through the market.

Pat Perry is also to be found in Cleveland

In 2016 Pat Perry participated in the INTER|URBAN Art project in Cleveland. Here you will find his Mural inspired by Edith Anisfield Wolf on the RTA Red Line West. You can spot the mural when stopping at W25 Ohio City, but quite frankly I dont think Cleveland gave Pat the worlds best location, you will only be spot par of the mural from the train and from the station. If you want to enjoy the entire wall you will be trespassing- not hereby saying you should of course – just saying that next time Cleveland invites Pat Perry to paint on a wall the owe it to him and to the rest of us to give him a more accessible wall.

Find more Pat Perry online

See more of Pat perry’s work on his webpage, where you find photos of his walls, illustrations as well as a few cool gleams into his travel sketchbook.
